I am directed to inform you:

that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint you provisionally, subject to the sanction of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to be an Assistant Surgeon in the Medical Department, on a salary of $200 per month, with the privilege of private practice and an allowance for three chair coolies and a messenger. Your provisional appointment will date from the 14th January next.
And your duties will be to visit the Wa hospital at least twice daily, in the morning and afternoon.
